Things to consider when naming your baby:

• Think of the initials. George Ian Thompson may sound fine but would you want those initials on your personalised stationery?
• Think of your baby as a child, teenager, adult and senior citizen. Does your chosen name still sound good?
• Think of your friends and relatives. If your child is named after one of them, will others feel left out or offended?
• Think of how the name sounds out loud. Would you feel embarrassed calling it out in the supermarket? Could children at school transform it into something rude?
• Think of your child not liking their name. Could it be abbreviated or shortened to a nickname instead?
